Hi Ray. Firstly thanks for sharing your thoughts. I agree that there is to much denigrating of other energy technologies from all sides. We need a mix of solar + wind + nuclear +others.

As for the nuclear advocates. I personally know a lot of them, and the vast majority do the work that they do on their own steam without support of anyone from the nuclear industry.

You say you like Macron, he is building numerous new nuclear power plants in France to continue the country’s very low carbon energy production. Where he is strong is that he has weighed up the options, made a decision and gone all in. Countries like the UK have spent far too long debating a response to the climate crisis.

I’m a not too familiar with the ‘missed events’ both in energy and deterrent. I will do my own research and come back to you on your comments regarding these. Nuclear Energy technology is very different from Nuclear Bomb technology. They are far too often considered one and the same thing.
