Is eating healthily giving me side effects?

I feel lethargic, tired and bloated.

I have never really had much of a ‘relationship’ with food. When I was younger I never really thought about what I ate, as I got older I started to enjoy food and trying new things but never considered what I put in my mouth does to my physical body.

Particularly in the last decade I have mindlessly eaten what I wanted. That was, until a couple of weeks.

When I was younger I was very active, plus I was blessed with the metabolism of a younger person. I was lucky enough that what I ate didn’t really have any influence or impact on my body.

In my late twenties to early thirties, however, I started to put in weight. But I found Ironman triathlons that I really enjoyed that did the work of keeping the weight off without me really thinking about what I was eating.

December 2016 was my last Ironman in Barcelona and fastest at just over 13 hours. However, in Jan 2017, my daughter was born and this gave me the excuse to have a couple of months off which turned into 5 years.

Since this point I’ve had a great relationship with food in that I have loved everything that I have eaten, tried any new dish that has taken my fancy and ate until full to bursting at every meal.

However, I have piled on weight.

This has been okay and other than the odd photo of myself that I don’t like the look of, my weight hasn’t…
