Stutz Review

A review of the self-help book "The Tools."

I first learned about Phil Stutz through Brian Johnson in his Philosopher's Notes. However, I got interested in his concepts after watching the Jonah Hill film "Stutz", in which the two discuss Stutzs' philosophy on life and how Hill benefited in his own life using the tools to overcome his issues and wants to share them with others so that they can help too.

This is not a summary of the film, but the self-help book "The Tools", co-authored by Stutz and Barry Michels, presents five tools or techniques to help readers overcome their fears and limitations to achieve their goals.

First, let's start with a summary of each tool:

  1. The Reversal of Desire: This tool helps readers identify and confront their deepest fears and desires and shift their focus from what they fear to what they truly want.
  2. Active Love: This tool involves actively choosing to love and accept oneself, despite flaws or past mistakes, to build self-confidence and a sense of inner peace.
  3. Inner Authority: This tool helps readers tap into their inner strength and wisdom and learn to trust themselves and their instincts.
  4. The Grateful Flow: This tool focuses on gratitude and appreciation for the present moment and learning to find joy in everyday experiences.
